“Jugaad” Book Signing Event – In Conjunction with Asian Pacific American Heritage Month
Join authors of the critically acclaimed new release Jugaad Innovation in a rousing roundtable discussion May 23rd in San Francisco.
From the Asia Society Website:
Jugaad Innovation is… “the most comprehensive book yet on the subject” of frugal innovation (The Economist).
Navi Radjou, Simone Ahuja and Jaideep Prabhu studied innovation in India and around the world, and found a formula for breakthrough growth in today’s global economy. It doesn’t come from teams of researchers at Harvard, or R & D think tanks within big corporations… it comes from the smallest, most remote villages in India.
U.S. corporations, entrepreneurs and policymakers must innovate faster, better and cheaper in today’s volatile business environment – and they can, by adopting a frugal and flexible approach to innovation called jugaad prevalent in emerging markets such as India, Africa, China and Brazil.
Jugaad — a Hindi word meaning an innovative fix; an improvised solution born from ingenuity and resourcefulness — is also known as DIY in the U.S., gambiarra in Brazil, zizhu chuangxin in China and Systeme D in France. The jugaad mindset is underpinned by six principles that U.S. corporations urgently need to adopt in order to thrive in today’s complex global economy. Leading firms such as 3M, Apple, Facebook, Google, GE, PepsiCo are already using jugaad innovation to outgrow competition — and to win.
But jugaad is not just a new business concept. It’s also a groundswell movement unfolding across America led by millennials, progressive government agencies and forward-thinking universities that are enabling “bottom-up” innovation to effectively deal with pressing issues in healthcare, energy, and education in the U.S.
A book signing will take place following the discussion. If you do not already have a copy of the book, there will be copies sold at the event.
